Cleveland, GA 5/6/08- Some people might say that the harder you work to accomplish your goals the more rewarding those goals are in the end. If you were to say that to Water Works race team owner Kelly Hosch and driver Jason Hogan this weekend at the USA International Speedway they may beg to differ.

Hogan was looking to put his mark in the history books as a winner in the inaugural season of the RC Cola/Moon Pie ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour as he was also making his first trip to the Lakeland, Florida track. With this being Hogan’s introduction to the track it made no difference as he clocked in as one of the fastest cars during the day’s practice sessions. Things looked to be all in check for the Water Works racing team when in the last few minutes the #21 Water Works Monte Carlo lost power as the result of a broken distributor. With limited time remaining before qualifying the team made the decision to roll out the backup car.

It may have been the move of the race as Hogan qualified ninth just out of the trailer. Making minor adjustments on the car at the beginning of the race was the only thing Hogan needed to post a fifth place finish in his first race around the half mile oval. There was no denying Hogan and his team’s effort and that is exactly who he praised after the race was over.

“It was a long and hard day to get this car in the top five. I probably could have finished third but I would have had to push the issue and it’s not worth tearing a car up especially when your other one is already in the trailer with problems. Everyone on this Water Works team worked really hard, from rolling out the back up car to adjusting it during the race; they did a great job. I’m going to stay down here this week in Florida with these guys and get ready for Bronson this weekend,” stated Hogan.

A veteran in super late model racing, finding two tracks in the Southeast, especially two in a row, that Jason Hogan has not competed on is rare. That’s exactly the case for him as he will complete ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour’s Florida swing in back to back weekends. One thing that will be in favor of the Georgia native is the time he and his Water Works team spent testing the 3/8 mile track a little over a month ago.
