Cleveland, GA 10/6/09- Since being named the 2009 ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour (SAT) champion a little over a month ago, Jason Hogan has spent his time doing what most champions do after being crowned, a whole lot of nothing. But now the urge to get back behind the wheel has hit Hogan full force so when Florida car owner Kelly Housh asked Hogan to climb behind the wheel of his #21 Water Works Car Washes Ford Fusion for the annual Seafest race weekend at the Desoto Super Speedway he gladly accepted.

While the 100 lap super late model event will mark the first time this season Jason has driven for someone other than his Hogan Motorsports team, the Cleveland, Georgia driver has raced for Housh more than a few times over the last few years. With Hogan fresh off his championship, Housh was more than happy to have Jason behind the wheel of his race car.

“Me and Jason go back a little ways and he’s driven my stuff quite a bit, plus whenever there’s not a conflict with our schedules he has me spot for him, so we both have a pretty good feel for each other and both know what to expect. With him being crowned the ASA SAT championship he really didn’t have any plans set in stone for the rest of the year so I told him to bring his suit and come on down and see if you can’t win a race in someone else’s stuff,” joked car owner Housh.

If it was to happen like that for Hogan one would think that he’d welcome any type of win with open arms. This season so far has held Hogan winless, when this same time a year ago Hogan had just captured his third win in a row. However; this season the veteran super late model driver has had to drive with a “points chasing” attitude, but not any more.

“I have no problems with getting my first win this year driving for Kelly (Housh); it may actually be a good thing to do something like that because that way he might want me to drive more often for him,” said Hogan. “This year we have been focused on consistency running for a championship but that’s something I don’t really have to worry about anymore. From here on out it’s all about making the most of what you’ve got.”
